Rineke Dijkstra is a Dutch film maker and photographer. Her subjects are mainly individuals placed in front of a minimal background. The models in these photos are chosen due to their distinct character or look, but she seems to do series where each model is individual but the collection together has a running theme.

Dijkstra can be related to Diana Arbus as she also used unique characters in her photography, such as identical twins.
Some of Dijkstra's works evolve round - Women after they have given birth and awkward adolescents on the beach.

Her most famous and significant filmwork is called: ' The buzzclub, Liverpool UK/ Mysteryworld, Zaandam NL' (1995) where she films teenagers at each nightclub.

This can relate to my photography project as I would like to show viewers the change in a persons body language and appearance when they begin to drink, from beginning to end. Dijkstra shows this, focusing on teenagers, I will use the same theme, however using an individual, through photography in the means of 'selfies' and a video which shows the change in behaviour and mood through out a night at the pub.
